Product Description
2007 compilation of tracks originally featured on Surf movie soundtracks of the '60s and '70s. Never mind the Beach Boys, Dick Dale or the sand stomping legends of the surf guitar. Chairman Of The Board is a compilation of surf soundtracks all but lost to the genre that created them. Surfing is full of `golden eras' and the one between 1964 to 1974 was a time when film directors immersed in the surfing culture commissioned original music for their ground breaking cinematic creations. From '60s beat to stoner Rock and Folk, a Psychedelic pulse breathed energy into giant screen sized 'tube rides' the directors had captured on film and as a consequence surfers had a soundtrack that beautifully reflected the barefoot roots of their lifestyle. Includes tracks from some of the most iconic surf films from the '60s and '70s including Crystal Voyager, The Endless Summer, Innermost Limits Of Pure Fun, Morning Of The Earth, Evolution and Super Session. Harmless.

essential.

Every important track from this time in surf films is evident. Great songs as well. not just 60's surf guitar, but late 60's-early 70's gems. I would recommend the dragons cd as well, which covers the Hal Jepson films. "Food for my Soul" is worth that disc alone.

Eclectic Mix of Surf Soundtrack Music
By TJD
An enjoyable mix of late 60's/early 70's tunes from surf movie soundtracks. Probably not familir to a lot of non-surfer's, but captures the post-Beach Boys era pretty well with folk and prog rock influences in many of the tracks. This is one of about six new CDs this year that feature this era of surf soundtrack music. Look for the entire "Innermost Limits of Pure Fun" soundtrack if you like the tracks from Farm on this CD. I also hope that Dennis Dragon (member of Farm) gets around to releasing the entire "Sea for Yourself" soundtrack (Super Session was a later, somewhat re-edited version of this classic).
