Good, but has much more potential
By C. Derico
I won a preview copy a few weeks ago and we tried it out. It can be played either with or without the balance board, though I think it would not be as entertaining without the board. You start out with a selection of about 15 player "avatars" to choose from and have to base your look off them. you have the option of a tutorial before each of the events, and a choice of difficulty, though I did not notice too much diference between easy and difficult settings. The water mechanics (physics) are better than most games in that you can drift more realistically off course, depending on the waves and your speed. The trick are performed with different button combonations and wiimote gestures. Between my wife and I the game was played for the first week and has sat most unused since, as we have both gone back to the Wii Fit or other games. I think this game has a LOT of potential, but seems as if it was rushed into production too quickly. It would be awesome as a party game, but for the casual player, there are better options out there.

Fun Island Vibe!
By Cherise Kachelmuss
The thing that really appealed to me about this game is that it is compatible with the Wii Balance Board, but you do not have to have one to play this game. I will say though it will not be nearly as much fun without the Wii Balance Board, but it is still fun. The game is really easy to set up, just pick your character and clothes then start exploring. There are 8 games to choose from but within each game is different levels, I am still on Easy! A few of the games are similar but I didn't mind as there really are only so many ways to stand and move with the Wii Balance Board. I really liked the Ski Distance Jumping and my sons thought it was cool to watch. The dancing, both Hulu and Fire, were fun and challenging and definitely my next favorites. By playing each game you obviously get ranked but you also earn sand dollars to buy items and unlock levels within the Surf Shack. You can play up to 4 players with this game but so far no one has had the chance to play with me so I can't speak for multi-player but I do love that the game includes that option. The graphics are bright and fun and really give off an island vibe. This would be a great game for families, as a party game, or anyone just looking to get up and move around!

summer fun
By Lisa A. Heath
I got this game a few days ago-it's a fun bargain game for the price (I paid $20). So far, my favorites are slalom skiing, surfing, & fire dancing. The surfing is more like trying to collect the sand dollars. My other complaint is that once you get a new board or water skiis or whatever equipment-it's for appearance only-it does nothing to increase your skills on that sport. It's not very challenging even on the hard difficulty, so maybe it's better for kids than adults. Overall, it's a fun game-but I'm not sure how much replay value it has.
